Your Representation

Genevieve Hornik, Esq. grew up in Colorado Springs and graduated from Colorado College.  After obtaining her undergraduate degree, she taught at the middle school and high school levels in Colorado and Florida.  She took a break from teaching when her family moved overseas due to her husband's military career.

Genevieve attended law school at the University of Baltimore School of Law and obtained her JD.  Her law career began as a judicial law clerk in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundle County, Maryland.  After her clerkship, she practiced law in a large firm where she engaged in litigation, mediation, and settlement negotiations.  However, she always had the desire to combine her passion for education and her legal profession. When the opportunity presented itself, she seized it and transitioned from a large law firm to a non-profit organization that represents children in 504 and IEP cases.

Genevieve moved back to Colorado in 2026 and founded Generating Hope Law and Advocacy, PLLC to represent children with disabilities in the Colorado education system.

We are committed to zealous representation, but we also believe that lasting progress comes from constructive relationship between the school and family. Our philosophy is to advocate firmly while fostering collaboration, respect and open communication. We work to strengthen the dynamics so that every member on the child's team- including the family- is aligned around the shared goal of helping the child make progress.

Genevieve's Philosophy

Families navigating special education challenges carry a weight that is both emotional and practical.

When a child with disabilities is struggling in school, the impact reaches far beyond the classroom: it affects daily routines, family relationships, confidence, and long-term hopes. Generating Hope Law and Advocacy, PLLC recognizes this strain, and we approach every matter with empathy for the lived experience behind each case.

Our role is to provide clear, thorough legal analysis that helps families understand both the issues and the pathways towards meaningful solutions. We identify potential violations, gaps in services, and opportunities for improvement. We translate these findings into actionable strategies. Whether a family needs guidance, advocacy, or formal representation, we ensure that they have a roadmap grounded in law, evidence, and the child's unique needs.
